Crystal Darnell Fitzgerald was born in Austin, Texas on April 25, 1979, to Eva Mae Fitzgerald and the late Billy Ray Rogers. She attended public school in Austin and accepted Christ early in her life. She resided in Taylor, Texas with her lifelong partner, Reggie Smith Sr.
She treasured and loved her sons Damontae Fitzgerald and Jaylen James dearly. In addition to that she loved being a “Great Aunt” to her nieces and nephews. Her family was always her daily motivation.
Crystal enjoyed working in food service and frying her famous fried chicken. She also loved music, laughing, and being the life of the party. She would always be picture ready and snapping selfies and pictures wherever she went.
She is preceded in death by, her partner, Reggie Smith Sr.; her father, Billy Ray Rogers; grandmother, Priscilla Joiner; grandfathers, Marshall Fitzgerald Sr., Earl Joiner Sr., and Curtis Hawkins; great aunts, Ruthie Matthews, Darnell Taylor, Pearlie Roberson, Bessie Hill, and Lucy Thomas; aunt, Rosemary Walker; great uncles; T.C. Thomas, Odell Thomas, O.G. Thomas, Larry Thomas, and Ernest Thomas; and uncles, Earl Joiner, Jr., and Clayborne Joiner
Crystal leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories, mother, Eva Mae Fitzgerald; children, Demontae Fitzgerald and Jaylen James; sisters, Ardetra Lewis, Sonya Williams (Dallas, TX), Tonya Williams (Dallas, TX), Carolette Rudd (Dallas, TX), Sherell Rogers (Dallas, TX); brothers, Bobby Fitzgerald (Donna), Treland Patterson , Rodney Patterson, Brandon Rogers (Abilene, TX); aunts, Betty Thompson (Bryant), Patricia Robertson (Darren), Gloria Kanada (Marvin), Rebecca Castleberry (James), Brenda Benford (Arthur, Jr.), Louise Joiner; uncles, Billy Ray Fitzgerald (Lakenya), Curtis Fitzgerald, Anthony Joiner (Wanda), Ray Joiner (Rita), Elroy Joiner (Shirley), and Wayne Joiner (Jackie); great uncles, Willie Fitzgerald, and Willie Thomas; as well as a host of relatives and friends that she loved dearly. She will be dearly missed by all and never forgotten.
She will lie In State at Elgin Funeral Home Friday, April 7th from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A Home Going Celebration will be conducted at Winn's Memorial Baptist Church of Elgin on Saturday, April 8th at 3:00 PM with Reverend D.W. Townsend presiding. Inurnment will be private.
