On the day of July 23, 1975, in the small town of Abilene, Texas, Earl Joiner, Sr. and Pricilla Joiner was blessed with a little bouncing baby boy, they name him, Clayborne Joiner. He was the youngest to siblings.
Clayborne lived in Abilene for a short period before his family moved to Elgin, Texas. Attending the public schools of the County, enjoying playing basketball and running track. He received his GED and worked on many jobs including the warehouse assembly lines.
Clay enjoyed life to its fullness, being a good father and enjoying his family. He favored all types of music and a fancy car. Clay was the light of the party, always ready with a joke, keeping people laughing even the children. This God-fearing young man, over coming many stumbling blocks, accepted Christ, and joined Winn’s Memorial Baptist Church. Serving God in and out of season, during it his way, living his best life.
Clay’s journey was off to a fast start, facing his own ups and downs, came to an end on November 4, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, his maternal and fraternal grandparents, two sisters, Christine Elaine Joiner, and Rosemary Walker and one brother, Earl Joiner, Jr.
Clay’s short legacy will be long remembered and cherished by his children, Da’Clayvin Joiner, Clayborne Joiner, Jr. and Clayvion Joiner; three grandchildren, Ayla Joiner, Aneizsha Joiner, and D’Lani Joiner; seven brothers, Elroy Joiner (Shirley), Ray Charles Joiner (Redia), Billy Ray Fitzgerald (Lakenya), Douglas Wayne Joiner (Jackie), Byron Glenn Huff (LaTonia), Curtis Lee Fitzgerald (Jurline), and Anthony Joiner (Wanda Kay); eight sisters, Glory Joiner Kanada (Marvin), Doris Williams (Tony), Patricia Robertson (Darren), Rebecca Joiner, Betty Faye Thompson (Bryant), Eva Mae Fitzgerald, Brenda Benford (Arthur), Irene Goodman Davis (Darrell); one his sister in law, Mary Louise Joiner; two uncles, Charles Thomas and Charles Wayne Matthew, a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Serving with grace ad honor as Pallbearers are Da’Clayvin Joiner, Clayborne Joiner, Jr., Roderick Thomas, Jerome Joiner, Sr., Patrick Walker, and Gary Spikes. Men of Honor are Willie Allen Ray,Jr., Justin Thomas, Earl Joiner, III, Robert Hopkins, Jonathan Ray, Gary Spikes, Jr., and Billy Ray Fitzgerald, Jr.
Clayborne Joiner, Sr., 47, of Killeen, passed away unexpectantly, Friday evening, November 4, 2022. He will lie in state at Elgin Funeral Home, Thursday, November 17th from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A Home-Going Celebration will be conducted at Winns Memorial Baptist Church of Elgin, Friday, November 18th at 1:00 PM with Pastor D.W. Townsend presiding. Interment will follow at Elgin Latin Cemetery.
