Christopher "Scott" Prather

July 23, 1972 — May 27, 2025

Austin, Texas

Christopher “Scott” Prather, 52, of Austin, Texas, died on May 27th, 2025. He was born in Kingsville, Texas, on July 23rd, 1972, to Melvin and Wanda Prather.

Scott met the love of his life, Dayna, at Common Interest around 1999-2000, and they went on their first date on September 15, 2001. His wit and charm won her over in their whirlwind romance. They were united in Holy Matrimony on October 19th, 2002, in Coupland, Texas. They were kindred spirits, truly made for one another, and created a beautiful life together. Scott became an instant father in his relationship with Dayna as she had a daughter, Carli. The couple were blessed with two more children, Samuel and Logan. Scott was a proud and loving father to his three children. Although, he loved traveling and hunting, Scott’s favorite role was being a grandparent. He treasured his time with his granddaughters, Montanna and Charleigh, and loved being their Pawpaw. He was a good Brother and Uncle to multiple nieces and nephews. As well as a friend to many.

Scott was passionate about his role as a software engineer at General Motors. While working for the company for eleven years, he gained a large work family. They were as important to him as he was to them. He spoke about his work family frequently and was proud of his team. He truly couldn’t have had a better group of coworkers. Scott will be remembered for his unwavering love and sense of humor. He had a way of always having something funny to say, even if it drove you crazy. He was one of a kind and will be missed every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, as everyone who knew him did.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Wanda Prather, and his brothers Mel and Roy Glenn Prather.

Scott’s priceless legacy will be cherished by his wife, Dayna Prather, his children, Carli Erickson and her husband, Michael; Samuel and Logan Prather, his granddaughters, Montanna and Charleigh Erickson, his siblings, Brinda Meyers and Walter Lee Brown, and many other relatives and friends.
