Carson Scott Horton

Carson Scott Horton, 68, was born on September 27th, 1957 in Wharton, Texas, to Gene Horton and Millie Horton and passed away peacefully at his home in Round Rock, Texas on January 29, surrounded by love. He was a man of deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering perseverance.

Known as “Scottie” to family and friends, he lived his life guided by a profound Christian faith that carried him through every challenge. He was admired for his determination, his commitment to staying strong and healthy, and his belief in never giving up.

Scottie grew up in Wharton until 1974, when his family moved to El Campo, Texas. He graduated from El Campo High School with the Class of 1976 and later earned a degree in Business Administration from Southwest Texas State University in 1983.

He had a lifelong love of football and truly cherished game days. Music was also close to his heart. A phenomenal drummer, Scottie played in a rock band called Cripple Creek during high school alongside his brother Kevin and close friends. Music brought him great joy and allowed him to share his passion with others.

Scottie spent most of his adult life in the Austin area, where he met the love of his life, Kimberly, fourteen years ago. They built a life filled with love, faith, and cherished memories. Together, they enjoyed going to Church, trips to the coast, attending Christian concerts, and simply spending time side by side.

In recent years, Scottie worked in the mortgage loan department at Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union, a job he often said was his favorite.

He is first survived by his wife, Kimberly; his stepchildren, Austin Dunn and Alexandra Newkirk; his brother, Kevin Horton; and his sister, Linda Wolfe.

Scottie will be remembered for his strength, his steadfast faith in God, his love of music and football, and the deep, enduring love he gave to his family.
