Barbara Jean (Kisamore) Mills

December 1, 1946 – October 11, 2024

Barbara Jean (Kisamore) Mills, a compassionate soul and devoted mother, sister, and friend, passed away on October 11, 2024, in Leander, Texas. Born on December 1, 1946, in Williamson County, Texas, Barbara’s life was one of service, kindness, and quiet joy.

Barbara’s innate caring nature led her to a meaningful career at the Texas State School, where she dedicated herself to supporting the mission of the facility. Her work was not just a job but an extension of her boundless compassion and natural empathy. Barbara had a gift for listening and a heart always open to a friend in need, providing comfort and understanding to those around her.

Outside of work, Barbara found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid fan of crossword puzzles, a pastime that reflected her love of words and problem-solving, and she delighted in shopping trips, especially with her sister, where she could relax and unwind. She brought warmth and understanding to every moment, and her presence was a steady, comforting light to those who knew her.

Barbara was married to Walter Mills on August 31, 1991, and they shared many wonderful years together until his passing in 2012. She is survived by her son, William, and daughter-in-law, Lara Clark; her brother, Kenneth Kisamore and his wife, Kay; her sister, Deborah Roeglin and her husband, Randy; grandchildren Weston Clark and Alexa Williams of Dallas; Caleb Chapman and Gabby Salazar of Houston; Laney Chapman of Austin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Belinda Kay Clark; her brother, James Kisamore; and her parents, Lindsey and Emma Jean (Nall) Kisamore.

Her family and friends will remember Barbara for her enduring strength, gentle nature, and the loving care she gave so freely. She will be missed deeply and remembered with gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing her. 

Serving with Grace and Honor as pallbearers are Weston Clark, Caleb Chapman, Lindsey Kisamore, Kevin Smith, 

Keith Kisamore, and Kevin Kisamore.

Family and Friends will gather for Visitation at Elgin Funeral Home, Wednesday, October 16th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be conducted at Elgin Funeral Home, Thursday, October 17th at 11:00 AM with Reverend Tyler Rogers presiding. Interment will follow at McDade Cemetery.
