Rudy Hostetler

December 31, 1972 — September 11, 2019

Rudy Hostetler, 46 years old, passed away on Wednesday peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, September 11, 2019.  Rudy was born on December 31, 1972 in Austin, TX to Mary and Loren Hostetler, Sr. of Manor, TX.  Rudy graduated from Manor High School and began a twenty-five-year career in the oil and gas industry.

While working at Syncro Vac, he met Marie Alvarez who worked in the front office where Rudy frequently visited.  From the moment he saw a picture on her desk of her son, Travis wearing a cowboy hat, he instantly adored him; now he just had to figure how to win over this beautiful woman before him.  He would often find excuses to visit Marie with attempts at being her handyman around the office. After helping her hang pictures one day, his efforts would finally win her affection.  Marie and Rudy began building their life together and soon thereafter, they welcomed another son, Cameron.  Together they built a life-long partnership and strong foundation of love, support, and family.

Rudy was an amazing father to his sons. He would always ask them, “Who’s the best” or “Who’s #1?” The boys would always respond, “You are dad” and he would always give them a smile and thumbs up in return.

Rudy enjoyed having BBQ cookouts, hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle and spending time with family and friends.  He had a larger than life personality and could work a room wherever he went, whether it was business or at a social event.  Rudy loved being around people.  He never knew a stranger only someone he just hadn’t met. Everyone would agree that Rudy had a “Work Hard – Play Hard” attitude.  He always gave 100% and believed things would always work out.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walter and Marie Hostetler of Shipshewana, IN; maternal grandparents, Benita G. and Jose Suarez, Sr. of Manor; and brother, Loren Leroy Hosteler, Jr. of Manor; and his uncle, Florentino Gomez.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Marie Alvarez Hostetler and sons, Travis and Cameron; his parents, Mary and Loren Hostetler, Sr; and many extended family and dear friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, with special thanks to Blanca Cannady and Rita Carrillo for their unwavering love and support for Rudy and his family during the past few weeks.

Rudy was a great friend to many and enjoyed hanging out with everyone. He loved nothing more than to exchange witty banter with the best one liners and quick comebacks. Rudy will forever be remembered as a loving son, father and husband.
