Margaret Evans

Margaret Ann Simmons Evans, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, November 15, 2018. Margaret was a long-time resident of Rockdale, TX and spent her last days at the Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Margert was youngest of five children born to Evie Lee Moon Simmons and Archie Christian Simmons, on February 19, 1932. She loved to sew and spend time with family and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by both her parents; her three sisters, Ruth, Avon, Margie; her only brother, James “Sonny;” her two sons, Gerald Dexter Worrell and Melburn Willard Worrell; and her first husband and father of her children, William Dexter Worrell.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Richard Thomas Evans; her four children, three daughters, Diana and husband Billy Moon of Elgin, TX, Irene and husband Ronnie Nester of Columbus, IN, and Vinita and husband Mitch Lovings of Bryan, TX; her son Daryl Worrell and wife Vickie of Kodak, TN; her 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Her constant affection and love will be deeply missed by all.

The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 21st with a Celebration Life begging at 2:00 PM with Reverends Don Ingram and Ronnie Gregory Presiding. Interment will follow at Lawhon Springs Cemetery.
